Snus
LegalTraditional smokeless oral tobacco (snus and similar) remains a legal tobacco product in Bangladesh, with packaging health warnings required and health claims prohibited. Note that the 2025 Amendment Ordinance separately banned 'emerging' nicotine products (vapes, HTPs, nicotine pouches).
Nicotine Pouches
BannedLegal basis: Smoking and Tobacco Products Use (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance 2025
Nicotine pouches were brought into the banned 'emerging tobacco products' category under the 2025 Amendment Ordinance (effective late 2025/Jan 2026). Production, import, export, storage, sale and use are prohibited, with penalties of up to six months' jail and heavy fines.
Cigarettes

Legal basis: Smoking and Tobacco Products Use (Control) Act 2005 (as amended 2025)
Cigarettes are legal to sell and use for adults. The 2025 amendment hiked public-smoking fines and tightened advertising and point-of-sale display rules, but cigarettes themselves remain legal.
Vape / E-cigarettes
BannedLegal basis: Smoking and Tobacco Products Use (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance 2025
E-cigarettes/vapes are fully banned under the 2025 Amendment Ordinance: production, import, export, storage, transport, sale, advertising and use are prohibited. Violators face up to six months in jail and fines up to Tk5 lakh.
Heated Tobacco (IQOS)
BannedLegal basis: Smoking and Tobacco Products Use (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance 2025
Heated tobacco products were added to the banned 'emerging tobacco products' definition under the 2025 Amendment Ordinance. Their production, import, sale and use are prohibited (a reversal of the earlier permissive status).
